For decades, people have wondered if we are alone in the universe watching the stars. According to one theory, alien visitors may be our own descendants who have traveled back in time to study or engage with their predecessors, despite the widespread belief that they are from far-off worlds. This intriguing theory combines the mystery of UFO sightings with the potential for time travel.

Time Travel and Aliens

Reports of numerous sightings worldwide following World War II marked the beginning of the contemporary UFO phenomenon. According to witnesses, sophisticated vessels are capable of instantaneous acceleration, right-angle turns at amazing speeds, and the apparent capacity to phase through solid matter—maneuvers that challenge our current knowledge of physics. Compared to traditional spacecraft, these features are more in line with speculative time travel technology (Bullard, 2016).

According to physics, time travel entails traveling across time—the fourth dimension—in the same way that we travel through the three spatial dimensions.  Though it has many contradictions, Einstein’s theory of relativity predicts that time dilation makes it feasible to travel to the future, while wormholes or cosmic strings hypothetically allow for travel to the past. If time travel ever becomes available, it becomes available at all times by definition, as people would move the devices in time (Masters, 2019).

The relationship between aliens and time travelers provides sophisticated answers to a number of enduring UFO mysteries. Temporal restrictions may constrain them, preventing them from tampering with their own past. This explains why reported creatures often resemble humanoids, express concern about our nuclear capabilities, and lack open communication. Their sophisticated technology would not be the product of alien evolution but rather of decades or millennia of human civilization (Goldberg, 2006).

Several observations support this theory. The features of reported aliens, such as bigger craniums, decreased physical frames, and enhanced sensory abilities, may be indicative of developed human attributes. In their timeline, their seeming interest in human reproduction and genetics may reflect attempts to comprehend their own evolution or avoid genetic illnesses.

The time traveler theory also explains the sharp rise in UFO encounters following the invention of nuclear weapons. Future humans might be monitoring crucial moments in their history to ensure their timeline remains unchanged or to avert catastrophic events that could jeopardize their existence. These visiting UFOs are in fact not aliens but natives of a future Earth.

Time Paradoxes

When considering UFOs as future human vessels, the occurrence of various time travel paradoxes poses intriguing issues. These paradoxes may explain the seemingly strange and erratic behavior of claimed UFO sightings. In any case, one must consider the paradoxes involved.

When we take into account human technological advancement, the Bootstrap Paradox becomes pertinent. Future humanity may be unintentionally starting a causal loop if they are showing off their technology through UFO sightings. Perhaps our sightings of UFOs, which are actually our own future craft, are the source of the very design concepts we eventually utilize to create advanced aircraft. This leads to a never-ending cycle where there is no singular point of origin for the technology (Wasserman, 2018).

The predestination paradox may help explain why UFOs frequently show up during nuclear tests or military confrontations. It’s possible that future humanity’s efforts to stop a terrible disaster are actually making it more likely to happen. Perhaps their very presence influences decisions that mold human history in ways they wanted to prevent, which could explain why UFOs often appear near nuclear installations (Nelson, 1953).

In the context of UFOs, the Hitler Paradox assumes fresh significance. Future humanity’s seeming inaction in significant historical tragedies may be explained by their knowledge that altering such events would essentially change their own timeline if they have the power to stop disasters or change history. This could explain why, despite their frequent sightings, UFOs rarely actively intervene in human affairs.

Applying the Information Paradox to purported technology developments after UFO encounters makes it especially fascinating. If recovered UFO technology influenced scientific or military advancements, which in turn led to the construction of time-traveling UFOs themselves, where did the technical innovation actually originate? It becomes an eternal loop. The ontological paradox may explain the mysterious origins of some scientific discoveries. Future humanity may be securing their own existence while producing a contradiction where some inventions come without obvious developmental progression if they are covertly directing our technological development through controlled UFO encounters.

These paradoxes could provide an explanation for the often contradictory behavior of UFOs: they possess the sophistication to display remarkable technology, yet they maintain sufficient control to avoid direct contact. Humans in the future would have to carefully negotiate these temporal paradoxes, which could explain why UFO sightings have historically seemed so strange and random.

Skepticism

There are several strong arguments against the “future humans as aliens” theory, which contributes to scientific skepticism. First, according to Occam’s Razor, we need to prefer explanations that are easier to understand and call for fewer presumptions. When more straightforward explanations like misidentification, hoaxes, secret military aircraft, or psychological phenomena could account for UFO sightings, the time-traveling humans theory forces us to accept the possibility of time travel, humanity’s survival for thousands of years, the development of amazing technology, and a massive coordinated effort to observe the past (Clarke, 2015).

Another significant challenge is the evidence problem. Despite thousands of reported sightings, we lack tangible proof of advanced technology. Even with the widespread use of smartphones and security cameras, reliable video evidence is still surprisingly difficult to come by. It seems unlikely that future humans could maintain complete operational security across decades of missions if they were coming to see us on a regular basis.

Anthropological contradictions also challenge the hypothesis. From Cold War nuclear concerns to present environmental cautions, reported alien acts frequently mimic current human cultural anxieties and interests, shifting eerily with the times. This implies that rather than real future human intervention, these encounters are more likely to be the result of contemporary human psychology.

Another issue is the difference in technology. Why would future humans’ ships be visible with such advanced technology? Why would they require tangible crafts? Observation methods used by more developed civilizations may be far more sophisticated and not dependent on metallic vehicles traveling through the atmosphere.

The historical record also raises doubts. If humans from the future were watching us, we may anticipate regular appearances throughout human history. Rather, UFO reports peaked following the invention of science fiction books and airplanes, indicating cultural effects rather than real-world occurrences.

An additional obstacle is the evolutionary argument. The frequently reported grey alien appearance represents an oversimplified perspective of human evolution. Future humans are unlikely to resemble the aliens we currently see in popular culture, as real human evolution over hundreds of years would likely be significantly more complex, potentially influenced by genetic engineering and technological integration.

The physics difficulty poses the greatest threat to the idea. While time dilation may enable travel to the future, it presents significant theoretical obstacles that could render time travel to the past impracticable. The energy requirements alone would be enormous, and the basic paradoxes that backward time travel creates may not be only philosophical conundrums but perhaps unsolvable natural laws.

Conclusion

The variety of UFO encounters also strains credibility. We may anticipate greater consistency in the reported ships and beings if these were coordinated observations by humans in the future. Rather than representing genuine encounters with a single future society, UFO accounts significantly differ in their depiction of the boats and their inhabitants, suggesting that these encounters are more likely the product of human imagination.

The idea that aliens are time travelers reveals humanity’s intense curiosity about our cosmic beginnings and ultimate fate. This argument makes us think about the technical potential of our species and our duty to future generations, regardless of whether future humans are actually seeing us through their sophisticated crafts.  We must strike a balance between scientific skepticism and our imagination as we continue to investigate these possibilities, seeking extraordinary evidence while keeping open to extraordinary possibilities.
