Skinwalker?
Skinwalker?

This is Dr. Michael Lorenzen, the date is 17 May 2023.

[Kendall Mason]

My name is Kendall Mason, K-E-N-D-A-L-L-M-A-S-O-N. I’m 40 years old and I’m from Colchester, Illinois and I currently live in Macomb, Illinois. Go ahead and tell us your story.

It was May 1st, it was approximately 7.30 in the morning, getting the kids ready for school. Usually I knock on the, or yell upstairs at 7.30, it’s almost time to go. It usually takes a minute or two before they get downstairs, so I stand at the front door until they’re ready.

Put my shoes on and just look out the front door like I normally do. The neighbor has a poodle, so sometimes you can see her playing, him or her over there playing. That morning I seen something over there and it kind of caught my eye.

At first I thought it was a poodle and the poodle is white. Well, that’s gray, grayish. It was a gray, slight blue undertone.

I watched for a second thinking, seeing a dog, but I was, you know, we’re probably 30, 40 yards from that area. There was an animal, it was blue, well I’d say it was more gray, that blue undertone. It’s arms were feathered.

It sounds crazy to say, but I only seen the back half of it’s head. It looked more like a reptile type, leathery skin. And then it had it’s arms, I wouldn’t say kind of like wings, but it really wasn’t wings, it was more arms.

So the arms and the feet were kind of feathered. The back half of the head, which I could see, and down it’s back and it’s tail, I could see. I would estimate from how far away we are, it was probably at least 7 feet tall.

Standing up? It kind of was, I would kind of describe it like how you would see a raptor move in Jurassic Park. How they kind of are like, not really hunched, but how it’s kind of, the curvature of the back and everything.

I would say it was probably 3 feet wide. And then I was, as quickly as I seen it and realized what was going on, seeing it’s tail, do a little whip, and it moved towards the trees over there, and I thought, well it’s going to come out the other, it’s got to come out the other side. There’s, you know, it’s just a tree over there on that fence, there’s nowhere for it to go.

And it was much wider than the tree that it was heading behind. And I just watched it and it went to the tree and it should have come out the other side. But my brain was trying to figure out what I was looking at, what was happening, and it never came out the other side.

And I didn’t see it again. I stood there for probably 2 minutes, waiting for the kids to come downstairs. It never reappeared, never seen it again.

I think that was about May 1st. And then this last Saturday, which would have been the 13th, I had the dog out here in the backyard. Heard some, I wouldn’t say it was like, I just, it was a noise.

It was, it didn’t sound mechanical, but it didn’t sound like an animal that I’d heard before. It was in the front, I was trying to get my phone to record. And I couldn’t pick up anything besides the train and the noise from Western.

But all the dogs and coyotes and everything around the area, I mean, there’s probably 7 or 8 dogs around here. And all of them were going nuts at the same time. Whatever that noise was, it was kind of like a howling, screech, moan, it was just weird.

Like, I don’t know really how to describe it other than, it wasn’t an animal that I’ve ever heard and it wasn’t, it wasn’t a machine. We stayed in the backyard for 3 or 4 minutes and for whatever reason, there was a lot of bats that night and they kept hitting the ground over here on the patio. Kind of freaked me out.

Texted Dad, I think he might have contacted you again after that. I went back inside, closed the curtain and went to bed. That’s the only two things that have occurred from, I think might be, I think that was probably related just because the husky and, the husky down, there’s two huskies and they were both howling.

I could hear the coyotes out in the field, down the street past the church. I don’t know, I don’t know if it’s the same thing or not, but it just was really weird that even the, nothing wanted to be on that side of the house, which is where I seen the thing. And there was probably, there was at least three bats on the cement on the pavement over here on the patio that were, had hit the ground.

That’s the last time I’ve had anything weird.

[Dr. Michael Lorenzen]

Okay, so your dad sent me a little video that didn’t make a lot of sense.

[Kendall Mason]

I had a video, I was trying to record it, trying to record the sound and I was, had the dog with me and she was freaking out and there was, you know, the bats were on the ground and I was trying to keep her away from the bats. And it was, I was just, I was trying to record the sound and it just really wasn’t picking up that sound. It was southwest of here it sounded like, so, straight south is the sewer, so it would have been to the, a little bit to the west of that where the sound was.

It didn’t sound like it was coming from the sewer because you could hear the banging and things from the sewer during the day when they’re working and it didn’t sound like anything like that. But it was in that general direction, so like, you know, back towards the west. Yeah, the video was me struggling with the dog trying to record the sound and it wasn’t, it wasn’t, the dog wasn’t cooperating, I was the only one awake and it was, yeah.

[Dr. Michael Lorenzen]

Getting stuff when you’re an eyewitness isn’t as easy as people think it out to be.

[Kendall Mason]

Yeah, like, I’ve, you know, I’ve never encountered like a Bigfoot or anything like that. I’ve seen other weird things but nothing recently and that was, whatever I’ve seen my brain was not, I mean I could see it, I was, I’d been awake for an hour and a half, I was coherent, you know, I’d already had my caffeine and ready to take the kids to school like normal and I just, okay, I’m seeing this and the next, you know, it’s next step should, it should come out the other side of the, this tree and I should be able to see it and that was it.

So you went up the tree or it moved really fast or it portaled? I, like, you know, people think that when they hear this type of stuff or see this stuff that, you know, we’re crazy because my thought was portal, I mean, even if it got to the other side of the tree I had to hop a fence and then I can, I mean, I’ve seen, you know, animals back there and, yeah, it was, it was gone. I mean, I couldn’t hear anything because the door, I had the, the door open or the door was shut or just had the glass front door but, yeah, it was gone.

[Dr. Michael Lorenzen]

So this is your dad’s description, he said he saw a skinwalker, is that his description or yours?

[Kendall Mason]

I asked him if he’d ever seen one because obviously he’s, you know, big foot at researching this kind of stuff and I kind of looked up what skinwalkers might be, what they might look like because I didn’t know how to exactly describe what I seen. But, I mean, I did look at some skinwalker pictures of, you know, drawings and stuff online and it didn’t necessarily look like anything like that, it was more, to me the best way to describe it was like a raptor mixed with a blue jay, as weird as that sounds. I mean, it was, it was bird-like and reptilian-like, like I’d say 50-50, I mean, I don’t think, it didn’t look like it could take flight but it looked like it may have been capable, so.

[Dr. Michael Lorenzen]

Yeah, I don’t know what you’re describing, does it sound like anything?

[Kendall Mason]

Yeah, I’ve…

[Dr. Michael Lorenzen]

Skinwalkers usually could turn like into wolves or birds but they’re usually like big versions of animals or not.

[Kendall Mason]

I mean, it was, I’d say, it was 50-50 if I had to describe the features and I didn’t see, I seen the back of its head, I didn’t see its, I didn’t see its face. Um, and I think the whole situation probably lasted 15 seconds, 25 seconds, I mean, it was… Sure.

It just slowed down in my head because I replayed it over and over and over but, I mean, it was, it was really quick and it was very fluid, like it was, it wasn’t moving like it was hunting or anything or, yeah, it wasn’t slow but it wasn’t in a hurry, like it was just…

[Dr. Michael Lorenzen]

Friend.

[Kendall Mason]

Yeah.

[Dr. Michael Lorenzen]

Yeah. Don’t know. Is that a chocolate ralab?

[Kendall Mason]

Yeah, I don’t think it was, I don’t think it was a skinwalker but like that’s, it just kind of moved, I don’t know, how fluid it moved and how it was like effortless. Okay, anything else? I don’t think so, no.

[Dr. Michael Lorenzen]

Okay, well, thank you. Yeah, no problem. Goodbye.

And, um…
